Celebrity Obsession

To say that Sarah and I are interested in celebrities would be a bit of an understatement. Okay, it would be a total lie. We’re dangerously close to obsessed. I mean, I don’t read E!Online’s gossip page everyday…but I am faithful to Page 6. I don’t call Sarah every morning to chat about what each celebrity was wearing on Letterman…but, I have been known to start a phone conversation with, “Is it just me, or was that a baby bump?” I’m not proud of it, but in the spirit of full disclosure I will tell you that I once spent an entire day trying to figure out what Ben Affleck’s mysterious “OV” tattoo means. (I still don’t really get it.) The good news is, all this time spent thinking about famous people, and imagining some of the hunkier ones partially clothed in my kitchen, has finally paid off.

Sarah and I, slightly ashamed and completely perplexed by the roots of our obsession, began to think about how and why we turned into such weirdoes. We wondered what the other side of our obsession feels like, what life is like for someone who has a million little voices all over the world yapping about their hairstyle, love life, and eating habits. If, like my mother says, your ears burn when someone is talking about you, do celebrities always have someone around with an ice pack? Is this why they require so many personal assistants? These and many other important questions were investigated for the writing of our latest book, Accidental It Girl.

Accidental It Girl is the story of a female paparazzi and one of Hollywood’s hottest bachelors finding out just how far they’re willing to go to protect themselves, and just how thin the line between love and hate can be. It’s funny. Unlike some other stories about the paparazzi, no one dies.

Sarah has plopped up an excerpt from Accidental It Girl on LibbyStreet.com, and we plan on, uh, plopping a new section in every two weeks until the book comes out in early October. We hope you enjoy the sneak peek, and take heart in knowing that sometimes you can pass your guilty pleasures on for others to enjoy.
